Pre-construction involves performing preliminary planning and engineering in order to define a project, identify potential issues and assess cost implications. It is an essential element of the building process when dealing with a new development as an electricity supply needs to be connected and source of water identified. Pre-construction determines if a project is even viable or not. If viable it defines the level of work enough to determine a firm cost and schedule for the project.
